The Club is planning a major renovation and expansion of the members pool, adding a new building with a health club and re-orienting the existing pool(?), and other aspects—a health bar, undoubtedly! This expansion will include the grassy ‘block’ northwest of our maintenance hut. Many have assumed that the block was part of Wood Duck–but it is not. Changes will have an visual impact on our entry (I do not have any details of the plan or layout). Do you have information or thoughts to share — good or otherwise?

I was thinking. The only people who benefit are the the members of the club with so called improvements. 40% of people who live in Grand Harbor are NOT members but we still must contribute through our HOA. The pool was never a Wood Duck pool, always a member only swim venue. It would be nice but doubt that will ever change.
We purchased our unit in Courtyard 4 about 5 months ago, we really like it here. I was however very surprised to learn that the pool was NOT for the Wood Duck residents, somehow that detail did not come up in the sales process. I never see anyone using it but I certainly would. Is there some sort of “summer membership” at the club? If not, there should be. Can we get the club to allow the Wood Duck owners access to the pool as part of this project? Thanks in advance, just learning the local ropes.
The new gym proposal needs reviewing as many issues point to problems. Firstly, it has been noted in the Grand Harbor announcements that you will be able to view the Indian River and the Joel Lee golf course ? Most people exercise between 6–11 am when the sun will shine directly into the gym..they will be blinded by the sun. Our neighbors in courtyard 1 , will be able to enjoy their morning cup of coffee while watching a herd of people on stationary bikes! This new facility has an estimated cost of $8,000,000…I hope the people in courtyard 1 will be compensated for their loss of tranquility and property value.
The Pool/Deck: A larger pool is being considered with a little cafe ? I hope the 4 people who swim laps regularly enjoy themselves.
I will jump in a start the conversation with a thought… I have not seen any renderings, but I’m willing to ASSUME that the new building design won’t be UNappealing. However, it will certainly be larger… perhaps even visually encroaching on the current open space at our entry. It will be a building with more services, so will obviously require more parking–which I also do not know where planned.
HOWEVER, there is one aspect I do feel will BENEFIT the Wood Duck Townhouse appeal (and values): When finished, our townhouses will now give a greater impression of being INSIDE the Club grounds… in fact, a some sense will be like “Club Residences”.
Most of us have travelled widely have had the occasion to see “club residences” offered at prestige clubs. They are lux and they are desirable. In a small way, our townhouses may BENEFIT from that impression. – David 4797
